Dave Gardner, the producer of the upcoming documentary “Hooked on Growth” will be at Mike Hanauer’s home in Carlisle (MA) on Tuesday, June 15 between 5 and 8 pm. We are all invited to come; meet Dave; have some snacks and a beer; and talk with some great people who care about Planet Earth. To get an idea what “Hooked on Growth” is all about, you can view a five minute “dynamite trailer” on Dave’s website at http://growthbusters.org. The website will give you lots of information and, if you wish, an opportunity to donate. Basically, the theme is that limitless economic and population growth, contrary to popular belief, is inconsistent with a sustainable way of life on this planet. ConcordCAN has joined with Carlisle Climate Action, and many other climate action organizations in endorsing the “Steady State Economy.” You can learn more about that at http://steadystate.org. FROM ROUTE 95/128 & POINTS EAST (via Bedford center):
* Exit at Route 225 West in Lexington (exit 31B), go through Bedford toward Carlisle (225 forks left across from VW dealer).
* 70 feet after crossing the Concord River and then entering Carlisle, take a left onto Skelton Road.
* Go straight across River Road onto Nowell Farme Road.
* Take the second right onto Long Ridge Road.
* Go to the end, Mike's Driveway is on the left.
FROM ROUTE 2 & POINTS SOUTH (via Concord center):
* Exit at Route 62 North, go into Concord Center & into the rotary
* Turn right onto Monument Street just before the Colonial Inn
* Pass the Old North Bridge; Monument Street becomes River Road in Carlisle
* Turn left onto Nowell Farme Road 4 miles from Concord Center (at the four way intersection, it's Skelton on the right).
* Take the second right onto Long Ridge Road.
* Go to the end, Mike's Driveway is on the left.
FROM ROUTE 495 & POINTS WEST (via Carlisle center):
* Exit at Route 2A/119 East, then a quick left onto Route 110 North
* Turn right onto Route 225 East toward Carlisle
* Bear right onto River Road 2 miles after Carlisle Center
* Turn right onto Nowell Farme Road after 1/2 mile (at the four way intersection, it's Skelton on the left).
* Take the second right onto Long Ridge Road.
* Go to the end, Mike's Driveway is on the left.
FROM ROUTE 3 & POINTS NORTH:
* Exit at Treble Cove Road (Exit 28) in Billerica, go South (right) toward Carlisle.
* Cross Route 4 (North Road), go 1 mile, turn left on Maple Street after the "Dangerous Intersection" sign (don't worry if you miss it, all roads will go to Route 225).
* After 0.1 mile, bear left at the fork, which keeps you on Maple Street.
* Go another 1.3 miles to end of Maple, turn left (East) onto Route 225.
* Take Route 225 (Bedford Road) East toward Bedford, but bear right onto River Road in 0.3 mile.
* Turn right onto Nowell Farme Road in 0.4 mile (at the four way intersection, it's Skelton on the left).
* Take the second right onto Long Ridge Road.
* Go to the end, Mike's Driveway is on the left.
