About ConcordCAN

ConcordCAN took shape in late 2006 when a group of Concord citizens organized what turned out to be a hugely successful Global Warming Symposium and Fair in March 2007. We were, and remain, a group of people extremely concerned about the impact of global climate change and peak oil. ConcordCAN members believe that our communities must transition to locally based economies that rely less on fossil fuels; conserve energy; reduce carbon emissions; and use alternative energy sources.

The "ConcordCAN" name reflects our confidence that positive action at the local level is effective. "Going Local" is central to our vision. Since we are part of a worldwide movement, the impact of small changes made here will be multiplied many times over. We don’t have to wait for large-scale governmental action to address climate change and peak oil. We believe that our community has the resources, ability, and will to take action and be a model for local and effective change.
