CONSERVATION CHALLENGE

Take the Challenge and help our communities reach the goal of reducing 211 tons of carbon in 2011. Reduce your carbon footprint, save money, enter your chance to win $300 towards weatherizing your home and help our communities become more sustainable.

The online Challenge tool includes 3 parts:

• Calculate: See how big your carbon footprint is and how you compare to others in town and around the world
• Reduce: the most important part! Select from a list of over 50 things you can do or submit one of your own
• Compare: see how you compare to others participating in the Challenge, including groups and individuals competing to see who can reduce the most as well as be the most sustainable

WIN $300: All particpants will be entered in a raffle for $300 towards weatherizing your home. Weatherization includes making improvements that save money and energy, such as adding insulation, storm doors and increasing energy efficiency. To enter the raffle just click the Get Started button and make a reduction.

SAVE MONEY: The calculator has been customized to take advantage of existing town programs that are easy to use and save you money. For example, did you know the Light Plant offers up to $3 rebate on the purchase of a compact fluorescent light or LED bulb as well as up to $100 rebate on the purchase of an Energy Star appliance? These are just two of the many ways you can lower your impact and save money.
